The Raising

  Unloading the timber

Upon arrival at the job site, the team unloads the beams and makes final preparations for the raising. This includes calling the crane that will be needed to raise the bents and rafters. Also the floor is marked and cut as to where the beams will sit, once the frame is raised.

Here are the steps involved in a raising:

1.   The floor is marked and cut as to where the beams will sit.

Pre-assembly of Bents

2.   Once the floor is prepared for the raising, the bents are then pre-assembled in the order that they will be raised.

A Bent is raised with the help of a Crane A Raising the next Bent

3.   With the use of a crane the bents are carefully raised into place (see picture). Connecting members are then inserted from one bent to another in order to keep the frame together.

4.   The top plates, ridge beams and rafters are also raised into place by crane. This solidifies the overall frame, enabling to become self-supporting structure.

Ready for the Stress-Skin Panels

5.   The final step in the raising process is to make sure that the frame is level and square. All is now ready for the stress-skin panels.
